Every neighbourhood has problems that everyone talks about and no one solves. This hand brings women together to act on them.

Who it's for Neighbours in need, elderly people living alone, and families going through a hard time.

Why it matters

Why this hand matters

Women know their neighbourhoods closely: who is living alone, which lane floods, which family is struggling quietly. That knowledge is the start of real help.

When women lead, help reaches people with care and dignity, not as charity.

Please note: We never photograph or name anyone we help without their consent, and never in a moment of hardship. For drives we collect goods only, never money.

Our aims

What we want to do

  • Community drives for food, clothes and essentials, given with dignity
  • Support for elderly people living alone in our neighbourhoods
  • Neighbourhood problem-solving meetings led by women
  • Help during floods and emergencies, working alongside local authorities
  • Blood-donation and health-awareness camps with recognised partners
  • Neighbourhood safety walks (street lighting, safe routes), with findings shared with local authorities

These are our aims. As each one happens, we will share it here with real photos.

Step by step

How it works

  1. 1

We listen to residents and choose one real problem.

  2. 2

We plan with the ward office or local authority where needed.

  3. 3

Goods go straight to the people who need them: no photos, and no queues that shame anyone.

  4. 4

Home visits always happen in pairs, and only with the person's consent.

Questions people ask

Frequently asked questions

What are some ideas for community service?
Collect clothes, books or food for families who need them; spend time with elderly neighbours who live alone; teach children or adults to read; organise a clean-up of a local park or pond; plant trees; hold a blood-donation camp with a recognised blood bank; or help neighbours fill in forms for government schemes. The best service starts with a real need in your own neighbourhood.
What is the easiest community service?
Start close to home: check on an elderly neighbour, help a child with homework, give away clothes and books you no longer use, or join a local clean-up drive. These need little time and no special skills. Once you enjoy it, you can do more, for example by volunteering with one of our ten hands.
