Why it matters

Why this hand matters

Many women put off check-ups, ignore stress, or feel shy talking about reproductive health. Silence and delay can turn small problems into big ones.

We want every woman to know where to find reliable help, and to feel that she deserves it.

Please note: We share information and point you to qualified professionals. We do not give medical advice. For free mental-health support, call the Government of India's Tele-MANAS helpline on 14416 (24x7). In an emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital.

Our aims

What we want to do

  • Awareness sessions with qualified doctors and health workers on women's health
  • Topics we plan to cover: periods and menstrual hygiene, anaemia and nutrition, breast and cervical health awareness, pregnancy care, menopause, stress and sleep
  • Information on where to get help: government hospitals, health centres, official helplines and government health schemes
  • Open, respectful conversations about stress and mental wellbeing
  • Encouraging regular check-ups and screenings with recognised providers
  • Yoga, movement and healthy-eating circles for women of all ages

These are our aims. As each one happens, we will share it here with real photos.

Questions people ask

Frequently asked questions

Why is women's health important?
A woman's health shapes her own life and her family's. When women are healthy, they can work, learn, care for children and take part in their community. Yet many women delay check-ups or ignore problems such as anaemia, stress or reproductive health concerns until they become serious. Regular check-ups, good nutrition and early help make a real difference. For any health concern, please see a qualified doctor or visit a government health centre.
What are the 5 major strategies to promote health?
The World Health Organization's Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (1986) sets out five action areas: build healthy public policy; create supportive environments; strengthen community action; develop personal skills; and reorient health services. Our health awareness work focuses on two of them: strengthening community action and developing personal skills, by helping women learn and support each other.
